The Akka ferry was built at the SSW Fähr- und Spezialschiffbau shipyard in Bremerhaven and entered service in July 2001 under the name Nils Holgersson VI. With a length of 190 meters, it can accommodate up to 700 passengers and is equipped with 220 comfortable cabins to ensure a relaxing journey. In January 2022, the ship was renamed Akka and modernized with two diesel-electric POD propulsion systems, ensuring smooth navigation and optimal maneuverability. To comply with the strict environmental regulations of the Baltic Sea, Akka is equipped with a hybrid exhaust gas purification system (scrubber), which reduces sulfur oxide and particulate emissions, contributing to more sustainable navigation. On board, passengers can enjoy various common areas, including a self-service restaurant, a slot machine room, playrooms for children, and a cozy Panorama Bar with a sea view, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing journey.
